I needed to look up my TV summit brightness from here
http://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/motion picture-quality/meridian-effulgence
Then I had to fiddle with the newspaper slider before returning it to the 400 nits default.
Also in that location is the regular Brightness slider which in other HDR games is useless for HDR but now I had to turn information technology all the mode downwardly to actually lower the brightness.
I experience this whole matter is too technical for basically a brightness slider and other games have dealt with it much better. Those sliders should've been the advanced settings not the default ones.

Then adjust the right hand slider for how brilliant yous desire things striking by sunlight.
Don't worry about the rtings thing, set it using your optics.
- #4
I wouldn't touch the white newspaper or whatsoever since it just makes every white blaringly bullheaded and I don't know the actual reason for such a setting.
- #5
- #6
The ones I have do, yeah. They're simply on/off toggles.Don't all other HDR games just piece of work without all this fiddling?
- #7
A expert indicator is the sky in the scene that is shown to y'all. I tried a little bit to find my optimum values. The settings give you two sliders: one for the TV peak brightness in nits and one for paper brightness.I needed to expect up my TV peak brightness from here
http://www.rtings.com/goggle box/tests/picture-quality/peak-brightnessThen I had to fiddle with the paper slider before returning information technology to the 400 nits default.
Also there is the regular Effulgence slider which in other HDR games is useless for HDR merely at present I had to plow information technology all the manner down to actually lower the brightness.
I feel this whole matter is too technical for basically a brightness slider and other games have dealt with information technology much amend. Those sliders should've been the avant-garde settings not the default ones.

Some users find they have to change their TV settings to get a game looking how they want...merely then other games are off. Having in-game settings is probably superior (though they take to piece of work right and be articulate, which information technology seems these aren't).Don't all other HDR games just work without all this fiddling?
- #9
It'due south not that tricky. Adjust the left hand slider until you've got a nice bright dominicus simply still enough of detail in the sky. Then conform the right mitt slider for how bright yous desire things striking by sunlight.
Don't worry most the rtings thing, set it using your eyes.
I will definitely try that when I get dorsum home.
- #10
Some users find they take to alter their Boob tube settings to get a game looking how they want...but then other games are off. Having in-game settings is probably superior (though they take to work right and exist articulate, which it seems these aren't).
Ooooh gotcha. That thought hadn't even crossed my heed.

Besides make sure you exercise the Brightness scale (not the HDR ane, the top of three screen calibration options) showtime. Get that ready correctly and you'll get more than out of the HDR calibration.
On my TV I had to plough that matter all the manner down to become the emblem barely visible.
Yeah there was a patch final week for consoles, not sure most the PC vesrion.
- #14
On consoles, since the terminal patch.
- #xv
lol... damn it.
And for some reason I cannot disable HDR or mess with the HDR settings (they're greyed out) I'm using a PS4Pro and KS8000.
- #sixteen
On my Tv I had to turn that thing all the way down to get the emblem barely visible.
Me too. Only then when I did the HDR calibration I got more details in the highlights and more than dynamic range.
Like any of these things I think they should ever exist done to personal taste, rather than strictly following numbers.
For example my TV's HDR game mode was inverse in a firmware update to retain much more than highlight detail. Compared to the regular non-game HDR way it retains a lot at the loftier stop. So if I set the HDR brightness in game based on the TV'south supposed NIT rating I'd go a completely different outcome depending which of those 2 TV modes I used. So eyes are all-time.
- #17
Information technology'due south not that tricky. Suit the left paw slider until you've got a nice brilliant sun but still plenty of detail in the heaven. Then adjust the right hand slider for how brilliant you want things hit past sunlight.
Don't worry well-nigh the rtings thing, set information technology using your eyes.
Thank you for this. Gonna endeavour it out later.

I have the same philharmonic and the first thing I did I maxed out the backlight all the way to 20 but then you will have to lower the in game brightness because information technology will be too bright.Omg I thought it seemed a little dark/drab. My set doesn't auto-change backlight and contrast while it's in game manner... so this unabridged damn time it's been in HDR with incorrect settings.lol... damn it.
And for some reason I cannot disable HDR or mess with the HDR settings (they're greyed out) I'yard using a PS4Pro and KS8000.
- #20
Yeah, I had to lower it a couple notches. They recommend you also max contrast when viewing HDR content, so did that as well.I have the same combo and the first matter I did I maxed out the backlight all the way to 20 but so you will have to lower the in game brightness because it will be also bright.
Experience like the image is slightly washed out, and I proceed getting hints of black crush, but not severe... I call up information technology's more often than not due to looking at the game with incorrect settings for 40+ hours. :/
Edit: wait you lot have the aforementioned combo but the HDR sliders in game aren't greyed out for you?
- #21
Yeah, I had to lower information technology a couple notches. They recommend you too max dissimilarity when viewing HDR content, so did that likewise.Feel like the prototype is slightly done out, and I keep getting hints of black beat, just not severe... I think information technology's generally due to looking at the game with wrong settings for 40+ hours. :/
Edit: wait you take the same combo but the HDR sliders in game aren't greyed out for yous?
No the sliders are working for me for my Pro and Us KS8000. Make certain to reboot the game after patch download to install it, it was version ane.03 that added HDR. I felt the washed out part a little chip also but afterward a petty trivial it got better. I usually leave my contrast alone to I call back 95.
- #22
What do you mean? DV is "out" for some time now. Consoles don't support information technology though and on PC at that place'south only i game which does (ME Andromeda) and it'southward using NVAPI for this since Windows don't take any DV back up either.I wonder how things will go when Dolby Vision is out.
- #23
I mean when TVs with it go mainstream, probably current consoles will back up it. We volition see how this will compare to HDR10 and HDR10+. We would get our brains melted if nosotros have to cull betwixt both and tweak the settings. What practise yous mean? DV is "out" for some time now. Consoles don't support it though and on PC there's only i game which does (ME Andromeda) and it'south using NVAPI for this since Windows don't take any DV support either.

It's only greyed out and unclickable, in menus and in game too.
- #26
- #27
The HDR setting on mine is greyed out, fifty-fifty though I have HDR TV and it recognises HDR input when I launch the game!!
Same with mine, and I know mine has HDR, it'southward the Panasonic Viera TX-58DX902B, and so this confused the hell out of me.
- #28
Mines a Panasonic as well, the DX700B. Mayhap the settings simply support certain sets?!Aforementioned with mine, and I know mine has HDR, it'due south the Panasonic Viera TX-58DX902B, so this confused the hell out of me.
- #29
Mines a Panasonic likewise, the DX700B. Peradventure the settings only support certain sets?!
Well Gowans mentioned a restart of the game and panel worked for him, so i'll attempt it this evening after i become home from work.
- #xxx
Haha!! Worked for me too!!!! Evidently a bug!!A restart of game and console worked
- #31
Good stuff!Haha!! Worked for me too!!!! Obviously a bug!!
- #32
Don't all other HDR games just work without all this piffling?
And there are always users with unlike sets complaining the game looks washed out or bad, hdr isn't impressive. Here they give yous more control over your individual set and how you want it to appear. More games for now should practise this in my opinion...

Default values:
Effulgence: 5 (bar is between A & D of ADJUST)
Maximum Luminance: 800
Newspaper White: 120

- #35
When I updated a few days ago, the HDR image was overbrightening my blacks due to the patch upgrading my salve with HDR values that made the epitome look done out. When starting a fresh save to encounter the default values actually was a major comeback and I took over those settings, equally increasing the values would destroy the deep blacks of my OLED LG C6.Default values:
Brightness: 5 (bar is between A & D of Conform)
Maximum Luminance: 800
Paper White: 120
Motion picture simply looks too dark to me.....I know it's not supposed to be brilliant at night, but it just seems wwaaayyyy to nighttime with your settings on my C7

The game looks and then slap-up now and no problems. before i calibrated my goggle box, i had this washed out image.
- #38
In general?Anyone have any good settings for the ks8000 and PS4 pro?
I used this thread: http://www.**********/forum/showthread.php?t=1308315&highlight=ks8000
For AC:O:
I put the in game brightness at lowest.
The First nit slider to 1100.
The paper slider to default at 400.

No crushed blacks?In general?

Not that I've noticed. I haven't tested a lot at night or looked at shades. I will re-test afterward to check the blacks.

They added stuff with the ane.04 patch and concluded up by and large downgrading the game in almost regards.Wait I'm very confused. I played the game when 1.03 striking back a couple of days, and I just recall the hdr toggle in the game's menu and the default effulgence bar. Zero else. Did they add together more HDR settings later?
- #44
- #45
Thank you lot very much. It'southward not that tricky. Adapt the left hand slider until you've got a nice bright sun only nonetheless plenty of detail in the heaven. So accommodate the right hand slider for how bright you want things hit by sunlight.

Weirdly the default settings of 1000 nits and 400 of the newspaper white await best despite my x800d but having a summit nit value of 424.
Same-ish for me likewise! Mine defaulted at 800 nits and 120 paper white. Subsequently turning off HDR, adjusting the effulgence, and then adjusting the HDR values, my settings concluded upwardly looking correct at 900 nits and 300 paper white.
- #48
Human that's bizzare. I actually like the add-on of HDR in games merely hope most will go along to just have the turn off/on feature without having to tinker effectually too much.Same-ish for me too! Mine defaulted at 800 nits and 120 paper white. Afterward turning off HDR, adjusting the brightness, then adjusting the HDR values, my settings ended up looking correct at 900 nits and 300 paper white.

Man that's bizzare. I actually like the improver of HDR in games but promise near will continue to just have the plough off/on feature without having to tinker around too much.
I don't know about that! Some games can expect not as good as they can with merely on/off HDR options. Those games are calibrated for whatever TV the devs are using and as a result, results can be very mixed beyond a range of TVs.
Ubisoft actually put in the work and went to RTINGS to attempt and brand Origins the best looking on all HDR TVs. They were able to make such a good calibration tool and I will gladly have the time to tinker with settings if it means that my prepare volition be taken advantage of perfectly.
- #50
That's actually a really skillful betoken, not all HDR idiot box's are created equal and it would really be difficult to create something that looks great on all screens.I don't know about that! Some games can look not as good every bit they can with just on/off HDR options. Those games are calibrated for whatever TV the devs are using and as a result, results can be very mixed across a range of TVs.Ubisoft really put in the work and went to RTINGS to try and make Origins the best looking on all HDR TVs. They were able to brand such a good calibration tool and I will gladly take the time to tinker with settings if information technology means that my set up will exist taken advantage of perfectly.
I didn't really consider that as I guess I've been spoiled with Uncharted Lost Legacy & Horizon looking skillful out of the gate with HDR enabled.
